On Independence Day 2012 the KonaRed crew was back, as the featured beverage sponsor, for the 34th Annual Hui He’e Nalu Paddleboard and Stand Up Paddleboard Race presented by Da Hui Wasssup and Turtle Bay Resort. This year at Hawaii’s largest Paddleboard race there was over 500 participants that took the 4-mile challenge to race from Sunset beach to Waimea Bay or the new 7-mile course, Turtle Bay Resort to Waimea Bay. Several of the participants that raced from Sunset beach did it with their keiki sitting on the front of their paddleboard and navigating! Other racers chose a style of prone position, lying prone, or stand up paddling. As all the racers started making their way to the beach finish line there were some that were truly inspirational. These racers held nothing back and didn’t make any excuses to not compete in the race. During the day there was off shore winds that provided an extra challenge for most racers.
It took approximately two and a half hours for all the racers to cross the finish line and then the family and fun after party began! KonaRed was set up at the finish line giving ice-cold samples of our KonaRed Hawaiian Superfruit Original and Coconut Water Flavors! The big surprise for all the event goers was KonaRed’s partnership with Jamba Juice Hawaii for the very first introduction of the new Kona Berry Blast Smoothie! The Jamba Juice team was set up and had plenty frozen Kona Berry Blast Smoothies for everyone at the race. The racers couldn’t get enough after their long race in the hot sun! The Kona Berry Blast is set to launch at Jamba Juice Hawaii locations in early August!
Mahalos to DaHui Wassup, Turtl Bay Resort and all of our Ohana and friends for putting on another successful Hui He’e Nalu Paddleboard and Stand Up Paddleboard Race!
